Hand percussion with superpowers.

With 5 Drums in one Cajon, this is all you need.

Andy ingeniously resolved the technical challenges I had with my Cajon and presented me with an instrument that far exceeded my expectations.

Maximum efficiency and tonal response.

These Hybrid-Cajon, ‘Percussion Stations’ are a player focused, high-performance professional musical instrument. This ergonomic unit is five drum faces tuned to work in concert, Bongos, Cajon, a Conga and a Djembe. It has the same foot print and weighs the same as a traditional , single faced Cajon.

This is no empty box!

At the heart of every Small Drum Revolution Hybrid-Cajon lies a unique, strong and lightweight X chassis. This creates an unprecedented level of structure in this style of instrument. The more structure in the chassis, the less energy that can escape from the playing faces into the body. The more energy that can be retained in the playing face the richer the tone and greater the projection.

Thinking inside the square.

The real treasure of this system is its versatility. This Hybrid-Cajon is a melodic percussion station with five drum faces. Each side of the drum is its own tuned, playing surface. All built into a standard-sized Cajon’s footprint and weight.

The structure from this design facilitates an equally high level of performance from every playing face.

Imagine the possibilities…

The front face is a contemporary Cajon with a one-touch, micro-adjustable snare. The tonal response of this face without the snare dialed is diverse and rich. Working around the drum from the Bongos is a Djembe and a Conga. The melodic potential is astounding, as various faces can be played in unison to create melody, for standout soloing or as accents in a groove. As standalone instruments any one of these faces would be special but together they represent one of the most refined and versatile hand percussion instruments of its kind.

Snared

The snare mechanism is a one-touch, infinitely variable slider that can be dialled in from no snare, to an ultra-subtle long sibilant sizzle, through to variations on a bright crisp short snap. This broadens the range of potential sounds from traditional flamenco to contemporary Cajon voicing and way beyond.

What does this mean for you?

  • Five powerful drums which can be played in unison.

  • Incredible soloing, accenting and melodic options at your fingertips.

  • Huge potential for looping grooves to solo over.

  • All playing edges and corners have a significant radius so long gigs won’t leave your hands bruised or injured.

  • Less equipment to lug.

  • Less weight, savings on excess baggage.

  • Less space needed on stage and on the way to the gig.

  • Simpler sound check setup.

  • With the Sound Ports on the left and right it makes for a quick and easy setup or rotation during a set.

  • Unsurpassed and un-compromised build quality.

  • Incredible value for money if individually buying comparable quality versions of these drums.

  • A lightweight but incredibly strong chassis.

Plywood; a love story.

All plywoods used are Birch from sustainably managed plantations. The playing faces are Aircraft-grade.

So why do I love plywood?

High-grade plywood’s consistency in thickness and density create a fantastic tone quality. It is more stable in humidity than solid timber. Quality plywood is tremendously strong for its thickness and weight, while thin sheets remain flexible enough to bend into tight curves. These characteristics vastly broaden the scope of structural possibilities and make for a dream material to work with. And it sounds fantastic!
